State regulations:
All territorial federations have the power to vary or extend the general paragliding regulations on which all federations are based. Some federations, therefore, have their own regulations and others are based on the regulations approved in 2023.
This regulation is the result of more than 2 years of work, the philosophy is to increase the capabilities of athletes and for this are based on the latest standards of the A.P.P.I. and the F.AI.
The Aragonese Federation of Aerial Sports(FADA), bases its regulations on those approved in 2023 without variations.

Certifications



Summary of the certifications, endorsed by the Aragonese Federation (F.A.D.A.), the Spanish Federation (R.F.A.E.) and the Association of International Pilots and Instructors(A.P.P.I.). These certifications are federative, they represent the level of the sportsman reached, their validity is for life, and in no case they serve to develop a commercial work. For that you must have at least ED1 (Assistant Instructor) or ED2 (Instructor).
- Have completed the FGRFA Initiation 1 course.
- Minimum 12 years old (with parental or legal guardian authorization).
- Evaluation: Continued.
- Duration: Minimum 2 days
- Prerogatives: Handling on the ground or at a height below 2 meters under the supervision of a Paragliding Sport Coach
Level 1 or higher. - Max. recommended candle level: EN A.
- Equivalence with IPPI Card stage 1 and APPI 1 certifications.
Requirements: Be certified as an FGRFA 1, IPPI Card stage 1 or APPI 1.
- Have completed the RFA 1 Initiation course.
- Duration: Min. 8 days. Min. 10 flights. Collected and certified in your flight logbook (RFAE/APPI platform), of which 1 may be
tandem educational flight. - Theoretical exam on the FGRFA/APPI platform.
- Prerogatives: Descent flights under the supervision of a Paragliding Sport Trainer Level 2 or a RFAE Instructor “in
progress”.
The second instructor, if necessary to assist a student’s flight, can be a Sport Trainer of
Paragliding Level 1. - Max. recommended sail level EN A.
- Equivalence with IPPI Card stage 2 and APPI 2 certifications.
- Be certified as a FGRFA 2, IPPI Card stage 2 or APPI
- Course duration: Min. 10 days.
- Min. 20 high altitude flights (30 in total) recorded and certified in your flight logbook (RFAE/APPI platform), of which 2 may be tandem didactic flights. 2 of which may be tandem tandem didactic flights.
- Min. 10 hours of flight time in a single-seater.
- Theoretical exam on the FGRFA/APPI platform.
- Practical exam conducted by a Level 2 Paragliding Sport Trainer or an “in progress” RFAE Instructor.
- It allows you to fly autonomously on your own at your learning site.
- Recommended sail level EN A. Maximum recommended sail level EN B (with elongation <5.4).
- Equivalence with IPPI Card stage 3 and APPI 3 certifications
- Be certified as FGRFA 3, IPPI Card stage 3 or APPI 3.
- It is recommended to be over 18 years old.
- Recommended SIV basic RFAE.
- No mandatory course
- Min. 30 high altitude flights (60 total). Reduced to 20 flights (50 total) if basic SIV certificate is attached. FDFA. Certified flights in your logbook (FFAE/APPI platform).
- Min. 20 flight hours in thermal (30 hours total). Min. 3 different flying sites.
- Theoretical exam on the FGRFA/APPI platform. and Practical exam conducted by a Level 2 Paragliding Sport Trainer or an “in progress” RFAE Instructor.
- It allows you to fly autonomously outside of your learning site.
- Max. recommended candle level EN B
- Access to cat. B precision competitions.
- Equivalence with IPPI Card stage 4 and APPI 4 certifications.
- Other certifications: RFAE 4A Precision Pilot. Extra requirements, see in the regulations.
- Be certified as a FGRFA 4, IPPI Card stage 4 or APPI 4, for more than 1 year.
- Recommended SIV advanced FGRFA.
- No mandatory course.
- Min. 70 hours (100 in total). Min. 200 flights (250 total) collected and certified in your Flight Log (FFAE/APPI platform).
- Reduced to 150 flights (200 total) if the FFAE Advanced SIV certificate is attached.
- At least 1 flight of more than 30 km with at least 3 transitions.
- Min. 7 different sites (10 sites in total).
- Theoretical exam on the FGRFA/APPI platform and practical exam conducted in front of a Level 2 Paragliding Sport Trainer and a FGRFA Instructor “in progress” or higher.
- You can participate in XC cat. B competitions (Spanish Championship cat. B, National League “Sport” category, regional leagues).
- Max. recommended candle level EN C
- Equivalence with IPPI Card stage 5 and APPI 5 + APPI XC (APPI if advanced SIV certificate is attached).
- Other certifications: FGRFA 5B. XC pilot, RFAE 5C XC competition pilot, RFAE 5D aerobatics competition pilot. Extra requirements, see in the regulations)
- Be certified as FGRFA 5, APPI 5 or IPPI 5 for more than 1 year.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- First aid certification obtained within the last 5 years.
- Certificate of advanced SIV RFAE or APPI.
- Pass a theoretical exam on the FGRFA/APPI platform prior to the course.
- Pass the FGRFA 6 or APPI course. Non-commercial.
- Duration: Min. 10 days, min. 10 flights collected and certified in your logbook (FFAE/APPI platform).
- Pass the theoretical exam on the APPI platform, and the practical exam performed in front of a paragliding Sport Trainer Level 3 or Master APPI in progress or higher, and a RFAE Instructor “in progress” or higher.
- The rating entitles the pilot to fly non-commercial tandem paragliders, under the conditions set forth in the regulations.
- Equivalence with IPPI Card stage 6 and APPI Non commercial tandem certifications.
- The tandem flight logbook will record the flights made. This book will be on the RFAE/APPI platform.
- Other possible ratings: RFAE adapted mode tandem pilot rating (requirements specified in the regulations).
- Our federation card with international extension is necessary for the I.P.P.I. card to be valid.
- It is not superfluous to carry our flight book with the courses completed and stamped.
- It is possible that in some places abroad we may have problems or even not be allowed to fly, so we recommend:
To have the IPPI Card (International Pilot Proficiency Information), card that accredits the F.A.I., recognized in most countries and that accredits the level of flight that you have. It must always be accompanied by our federation card and international insurance extension. Without insurance, it is useless.
The I.P.P.I. license is divided into 5 levels:
- Student stage (I.P.P.P.I. levels 1 and 2. Equivalent to R.F.A.E. and A.P.P.P.I. certifications.
- Pilot stage (Pilot Basic, intermediate and advanced levels, equivalent to I.P.P.I. 3, 4 and 5. Equivalent to R.F.A.E. and A.P.P.P.I. certifications.
- To fly in most of the autonomous foreign country the level I.P.P.I. 3 is sufficient.
- Germany, Austria and Switzerland require level 4, for Cross Country in Austria they require level 5.
It is obtained automatically with the new regulations of 2023, in case it is not possible, will proceed with the following steps:
- Processing: through the F.A.D.A.
- Cost: 60 €.

Accreditation from the President of the Hang Gliding or Paragliding CTN (as appropriate), confirming that the applicant has the appropriate technical level for the IPPI level being requested. The pilot’s resume, or nickname in the online flight track platforms, as well as certificates of the courses taken and or proof of having participated in different competitions may be required.
