Your questions with answers:
It is an approved Paragliding flight for 2 people, and consists of flying with a Qualified Instructor, with the objective of doing a ride with the passenger for a limited time.
Yes, all our passengers and students are covered by our private insurance. Thus guaranteeing assistance to all our clients.
You will need to wear hiking boots, long pants and fleece or sweater, long-sleeved shirt, a raincoat or windbreaker and it is advisable to bring sunglasses and sunscreen.
Any person as long as their fitness allows it. Physically it is not very demanding. We have flown with people from 7 years old to 80 years old.
Paragliding, unlike skydiving, seeks to sustain itself in the air by means of air and thermal currents and to cover important distances. Parachuting, on the other hand, seeks to fall in free fall, and uses the parachute to reach the ground in a controlled manner.
It certainly does not jump to any cut! It really takes off in a gradual and non-traumatic way, the takeoffs are grassy and not very steep.
There is always a mixture of eagerness and anxiety.
In tandem paragliding, the instructor is in charge of everything, he will explain everything that is going to happen and communication is constant.
For the student who does a course, we have been preparing for this moment, with theoretical and practical classes. We are going to put into practice everything we have learned, and it is rather a liberation, because the school slope and climbing with the paraglider on the shoulder is over. Everything happens in a controlled environment with instructors at takeoff and landing.
It is true that if there is no wind at all on landing, there is always a little residual speed, but this does not usually exceed 5 km/h.
With the current chairs that we use for flying they are so comfortable that we know some pilots that when they are not flying they have them in their garden to relax, like a hammock. You can fly for many hours without feeling uncomfortable. This is valid for both tandem and single-seater paragliding.
Absolutely NO! The flight sites must meet minimum requirements in terms of take-off orientation, prevailing wind, wind direction and intensity, adequate terrain for the take-off run, being able to extend the glider without entanglements, having a landing within the glider’s glide capacity, not being within any restricted area for the activity. Also if we have recently left the course it is advisable to fly in the recognized sites and never alone.
It is not common that it happens, it is the same as in a car, if we drive we do not get dizzy but if we are carried we have many more possibilities. The vast majority do not get dizzy, but there are always people more sensitive than others, it is advisable not to drink or eat too much before flying, and rest if you are dizzy from the car ride. If you get dizzy easily, tell your instructor.
Paragliding as a flying device is very simple and simplicity goes hand in hand with safety. Accidents, which do happen, are all due to human error: underestimating the flight conditions, flying in conditions not suitable for the pilot’s level of piloting, overconfidence, flying with paragliders not suitable for our level of piloting. The fact of learning in an official school reduces the risk, (in Spain it is not mandatory to do any course to fly paragliding!). With the tandem gliders we fly for the passenger’s pleasure but we are the first to cancel the flight if it does not meet minimum safety margins (always depending on weather conditions).
Paragliders are approved by an international organization, and the first thing they pass is the structure test, if the paraglider manufacturer says that the maximum load is 105 kg, in the structure test it is subjected to almost 10 times the maximum weight. And if it does not break, they go on to other tests related to the quality of flight (there are manufacturers who take the structure test to the limit, and the gliders break between 1500kg of force … and some more). In any case, you have to choose a glider for the weight you are going to carry, although they have a weight range of about 20 kg. In tandem paragliders the maximum load in flight is around 220 kg and the homologation tests of the structure often exceed 2000 kg of force.
